Pathogenesis and Symbiosis

Pathogenesis and Symbiosis

From genes to microbe populations

Pathogénie - symbiose

Content

The unit deals with the molecular mechanisms allowing microorganisms (either pathogens or symbionts) to interact with their host plant. Adaptive strategies at different scales, from genes to populations, are discussed. A focus is made on how integrative approaches (plant biology, microbiology, genomics, genetics, physiology, epidemiology) can altogether contribute to the understanding of plant-microbe interactions.

Training managers

Alia DELLAGI (Professor AgroParisTech) and Marie DUFRESNE (Professor Université Paris-Saclay)

Format

  • Interactive lectures/seminars given by experts of the field(s) are usually followed by tutorials consisting of the analysis of scientific publications of the topic
  • Usually, 2/3 invited conferences each year (international or national research scientists)
  • A “bacterial symbiosis” day : lectures, interactions with researchers on legume symbiosis
  • Visit of a laboratory working on important crop fungal pathogens
  • Personal work in small groups (2 to 4 students) : analysis of a recent scientific paper

Lectures/seminars: 18h, Tutorials : 15h
