Goals

This course will allow the students to :
- Design and write a project to be carried out over a period of 3-4 years
- Analyse the bibliography on a subject
- Describe an experimental system
- Organise ideas and communicate clearly
- Justify the proposed strategies

Skills

At the end of this teaching unit, students will have developed the methodological and communication skills required to design and present a scientific research project. They will be able to:

- Conceive and structure a research project designed for a 3–4-year study period.

- Conduct and critically analyse a comprehensive bibliographic review on a specific scientific topic.

- Describe and justify the choice of experimental systems and methodologies.

- Organise ideas logically and communicate them in a clear and coherent scientific manner.

- Defend and justify proposed research strategies based on scientific reasoning.

- Produce a written research proposal in the form of a 10-page memorandum following academic and scientific standards.

Content

Project writing is an essential aspect of research work. This course unit enables students to tackle the writing of a research project based on their experience during laboratory rotations and the knowledge acquired during seminar

Format

The course will take place over a period of five days, during which time students will be guided through tutorials to help them write their project in the format of a 10-page memorandum.
