Anniversaries of the M2 in Plant Sciences

A year to celebrate for the Master’s 2 in Plant Sciences

The 2025-2026 academic year marked the anniversaries of the two tracks of the Master’s 2 in Plant Sciences in their current form: the Research track celebrated its 10th anniversary, and the Professional IQPV (Innovation in Quality and Plant Production) track celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Research M2 in Plant Sciences was launched ten years ago, resulting from the merging of several M2 programs focused on plants in the Paris region, thereby simplifying the local educational landscape and offering students a broad range of knowledge and skills.

The anniversary of the Research M2 program was celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2025, during an event financially supported by SPS, on the Grands Moulins campus of Paris Cité University. The event was a great success, bringing together approximately 100 people, including 65 alumni and 20 current M1 and M2 students. This marked the first official gathering of alumni, who enthusiastically shared their academic and professional journeys. Each session was followed by informal moments, encouraging discussions about careers after the master’s and memories of university years.

This celebration also provided an opportunity to create a database of the program’s alumni, which will help strengthen the communityprovide further insight into the career paths of graduates, and make it easier to organize similar events in the future.

Participants particularly appreciated the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to share experiences. Current students also found the wide variety of jobs presented to be very interesting.

This master’s program is one of the leading programs in Plant Sciences. It is constantly evolving to adapt to societal changes and emerging teaching methods. For example, starting in the 2026-2027 academic year, the Research M2 program, which has already trained approximately 220 students and offers excellent international opportunities with courses taught entirely in English, will introduce new training units incorporating innovative learning methods, such as short research internships in the first semester (known as “laboratory rotations”).

Celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Professional M2 track will be held during the 2026 edition of the traditional Carreer Day which will take place in the fall. This annual event brings together alumni of the program and fosters discussions about their academic and professional experiences.
